Although the final figure has yet to be confirm it appears Russel Abbot's peninsula tractor run for 2022 has exceeded his £5,000 target for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

A record number of more than 80 tractors from across the peninsula, and beyond took part to the delight of hundreds of spectators and support workers.

Hundreds of people turned out across the peninsula turned out to clap and cheer the tractors and drivers, of all ages and sexes, in what was a spectacular event.

The Tractor Run started at just past 10.30am at Stuart Paul's farm in Wherstead and the convoy made its way to Freston, then Woolverstone, Chelmondiston before winding through Harkstead to Erwarton.

Scores of people enjoyed burgers and more from Ragmarsh stall and the cold beer and ice cream was a welcome relief, to say the least.

Committee members from the Save the Erwarton Queen community group were on hand to add names to their ever growing list of supporters.

There were also a craft and a sweet stalls, while a raffle was held.

Money is still being counted for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and one participant had even more reason to get involved.

Main organiser Russel Abbot said: "It is fantastic to see everything coming together.

"We have had a perfect day and I want to thank all, too many to mention individually, from my wife to all the tractor owners, landowners, and marshals.

"Most of all though, thank you to everyone who has donated to the East Anglian Air Ambulance."

Shotley farmer Richard Wrinch was airlifted to hospital with a broken leg when he suffered an accident while out on machinery.

"The air ambulance crew were amazing and I for one are incredibly grateful to them," said Mr Wrinch. "We live and work in such a remote rural area so when things do go wrong the air ambulance are vital responding so quickly in saving lives.

"This tractor run is incredible. Russel and his volunteers have done an amazing job and it is lovely to see so many people from our communities come out and support it."
