UPDATED: Witnesses sought after woman in critical condition following collision between car and pedestrians on the Strand

UPDATE:

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a motorist collided with three pedestrians in The Strand, on the outskirts of Ipswich.

The vehicle was travelling towards Shotley while three pedestrians, two men and a woman, were walking towards Ipswich.

The woman, said to be in her 40s, was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge in a critical condition following the collision.

Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after the car collided with people walking along the Strand last night.

The B1456 was closed between the B1080 Holbrook turn off at Freston and the Bourne Bridge roundabout just after 9pm following the collision.

A fire crew from Ipswich was also asked to attend but was quickly stood down.

Witnesses are asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101, quoting reference CAD 394 of September,13 2020.
