Updates on how Storm Franklin has hit Shotley peninsula

22nd Feb 2022 | Local News
The Shotley peninsula has been hit with a yellow weather warning as winds gusting above 60mph from Storm Franklin have hit the area.
The Orwell Bridge is currently open, with a reduced speed restriction and Suffolk Highways east continue to monitor there situation.
Alerts have been announced for the Suffolk and Essex coast from Felixstowe to Clacton including Orwell and Stour estuaries.
Flooding is likely at the Strand an hour either side of 3pm when high tide is scheduled.
All this follows on from damaged caused by trees being blown down by Storm Eunice.
Although all trains are still running on most Greater Anglia services, it is a severely reduced service, running in and out of Manningtree and Ipswich stations.
A tree across the line has forced the cancellation of trains to Felixstowe this morning.
A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: "As a result there will be far fewer trains running and journey times will be longer – and if trees come down or debris lands in the overhead wires then journeys could be disrupted severely for many hours."
The plan – if trains run without further disruption from falling trees and debris on the line – is below.
