It had already been a sensational night for Woolverstone choir boy James Hodgkinson after last night winning through to the next round of ITV singing competition The Voice Kids, when he was then joined on stage by singing superstar Paloma Faith.

The impromptu session was sparked when judge Paloma asked 12-year-old James if he could sing the Aled Jones classic 'We're Walking in the Air' from The Snowman and when he said he knew some of it, the Brit-award winning artist jumped up to play the opening bars on the piano and then danced around the thrilled youngster.

With mum Angela and dad Chris, along with family friends Jane and Tony Gould, supporting him from the wings, James performed 'You'll Never Walk Alone' from Carousel in week two of the blind auditions as new coach Paloma, McFly frontman Danny Jones, pop princess Pixie Lott and Voice veteran will.i.am continue their search for a star.

Paloma turned around in her big red chair and will now coach James as the competition progresses. She said afterwards: "That is a match made in heaven if ever there as one, finally, someone who gets me."

"I want to prove choristers can't just sing hymns," said James before the show, "We can do other things."

The Canterbury Cathedral Chorister, who has performed at St Michael's Church, Woolverstone with the choir and singing solo, was praised by the Will.i.am for his caring nature after he revealed he had a collection of around 450 Wade Whimsies, and Danny Jones told him he should be proud of his performance.

He even sang live outside his home in the village by the Main Road during the Clap for our Carers campaign when he belted out his version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow', see here...
