After revealing that more than 41 per cent of people from Suffolk failed to claim their full holiday allowance in 2020, a luxury hotel chain is launching the opportunity of a lifetime for a hard working Shotley peninsula employee.

Warner Leisure Hotels, which owns Corton Coastal Village and Gunton Hall in Suffolk, is looking for one weary worker to give them the chance to unwind with a series of breaks throughout 2021.

The OnePoll study of 2,000 employed Brits found one in three failed to claim their full leave for the working year, with the average Suffolk resident losing out on 6 days’ break in total.

Off the back of these findings, the adult-only hotel would like to whisk away the UK’s most stressed-out Brit to kick back in one of its luxury hotel rooms, and enjoy spa treatments, swimming pool access, and activities such as archery, rifle shooting – and even Nordic walking.

All you have to do to apply for the prestigious title is head to warnerleisurehotels.co.uk/offers/annual-leave-lost and explain in 100 words why you’d make the best CRO (Chief Relaxation Officer) the team could ask for.

Simon Thompson, managing director of Warner Leisure Hotels said: “We reckon we’re the country’s best place to unwind, so we wanted to find someone to put our wonderful hotels to the test – and it sounds like lots of Suffolk people really need it.

Getting away from it all at Gunton Hall for example

“Our study found that, as bad as last year was for people taking annual leave, this year is set to be equally bleak – with 20 per cent of people prepared to ditch their holidays altogether in favour of extra pay.

“We couldn’t disagree more – annual leave isn’t a luxury, it’s essential! Even a short break can help us to pause, reset and reconnect with loved ones. That’s why we’re looking for someone with weeks of unclaimed holiday to give them much needed breaks throughout the year.

“If you, or someone you know, is racking up weeks of annual leave this year with no plan to take it any time soon, head to our website to nominate our first Chief Relaxation Officer – we promise to get even the most stressed-out Brit to relax.”

To be in with a chance of the role of a lifetime, head to warnerleisurehotels.co.uk/offers/annual-leave-lost before 23:59 on 15 August and explain in 100 words or less why you, or someone you love, should become the hotel’s first Chief Relaxation Officer.

THE TOP 10 REASONS BRITS MAY NOT TAKE ANNUAL LEAVE THIS YEAR
1. My work will pile up when I’m away
2. I’m too busy
3. Worrying what will happen at work while I’m away
4. I can’t afford a holiday
5. I don’t think I’d be able to get the time off when I’d want it
6. I don’t trust my workmates to do things properly in my absence
7. Fears over job security
8. Smaller team now due to Covid
9. If none of your colleagues were taking leave
10. I have had negative comments in the past from colleagues or managers
