A talented 12-year-old Woolverstone singer picked up a valuable tip after performing a stunning version of Bridge Over Troubled Water in The Voice Kids battle last night.

James Hodgkinson's amazing journey on the popular ITV show ended when coach Paloma Faith chose Haley from the three youngsters battling it out to reach the semi-finals.

Canterbury Cathedral chorister James had been picked by Paloma in the blind auditions and worked with the star and Haley and Sonny to put together an amazing fusion of the classic Simon & Garfunkel song, which was highly praised by the other judges, Will i Am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones.

Paloma admitted it was a difficult decision but went with the soulful Haley, telling James and Sonny they were 'beyond talented' and should not give up.

James, who has performed outside his house on the Main Road in Woolverstone for the NHS Clap For Our Carers, is determined to carry on singing and widen his repertoire.

During the rehearsals the trio were told by Paloma that when you think you can't sing any gherkin's to 'tense your bum and you will get there', James immediately said he would take that advice back to Canterbury Cathedral choirmaster Dr Flood.
