A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after the van he was driving overturned in Chelmondiston on Sunday morning.

Police have confirmed the male ran from the scene of the accident on Main Road, near Chelmondiston primary school Woodlands at 6.20am.

A 30-year-old man was found a short while later and was taken to hospital before being taken to the police investigation centre, where was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol.

He was subsequently released under investigation.

The road through Chelmondiston was closed while recovery took place and reopened just after 8.00am.

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made following an accident at Freston junction with the B1456 after the driver of a Seat Ibiza lost control and overturned their vehicle.

One lane was blocked for a couple of hours between 1pm and 3.30pm as the car was recovered.
