Alton Water is recruiting rangers, water sports instructors and more, ahead of the summer season

The sunny weather and relaxing of Covid relaxations has seen large numbers of people visiting the renowned park and with travel abroad like to be be largely curtailed, staycations to the Shotley peninsula are expected to hit unprecedented numbers.

To help meet the demand Alton Water is looking to strengthen its team and is offering local people a range of excellent job opportunities.

John Taylor, Alton Water's park manager, said: "We are very excited about the new season and we know with all the wonderful things we have to offer he at Alton Water we are going to be as busy as ever.

"With that in mind we are recruiting orange of staff, including rangers and water sports instructors. Ideally, they will be local to the Shotley peninsula and the most important thing for me is people with the right attitude.

"We can help with training and people gaining the requisite certificates and we know, although it is hard work and has its challenges, how much fun and satisfying working at Alton Water can be."

Alton Water is searching for rangers to join the team to undertake the maintenance of the water park, managing the fishery and ensuring infrastructure are kept in excellent conditions. An ideal candidate will have excellent customer service as they will be in constant contact with visitors of the park.

The role will include maintaining our fleet of fishing boats, organising fish deliveries, running competitions and ensuring the safety of our anglers while enforcing our park bylaws when required will be of main priority in your role. You will be responsible for carrying out safety inspections and routine repairs as well as recommending improvements that will result in positive customer experiences.

Alton Water is looking for friendly, customer focused people to join the team, where you will maintain our cycling and walking paths and keep our car parks tidy to ensure visitors have a safe and pleasurable visit. You will also carry out land and woodland management, organise and deliver fishing events and work closely with the head ranger to ensure visitor safety.

Water Sports instructors will be required to have a RYA Senior instructor qualification in Sailing or Windsurfing. Ideally they will have experience in a similar environment, assisting people of all ages and abilities.

Alton Water is open all year round, and extends opening during the summer. So a flexible approach to working hours and be willing to work in all weathers is essential.

The water sports' centre offers sailing, windsurfing, rowing and paddle boarding, providing a fun filled day out for beginners to experts, as well as group tuition for school groups and corporate events.
