The teenage players in Holbrook Hornets are hoping to create a buzz with their new kit and equipment, thanks to a cash boost from an electricity distributor.
The Under 15s team have been given £250 by UK Power Networks under their Team Sport Award. It was granted through employee Sophie Quinton who is a connections coordinator.
Sophie's husband, Darren, is the U15s manager and their son Cohen has played for the team for three years.
Sophie said Holbrook Hornets are a community football club that is open to all and they try and keep the subs low so that as many as possible can join. However, that means there is very little money available for kit or equipment.
Paul Moore, chairman of Holbrook Hornets said: "This award will be put toward kit or equipment for our Under 15's team.
"Kit and equipment costs for our 170 player-strong club are extensive and we are incredibly grateful for UK Power Networks donation.
"Your donation to our grassroots community youth football club supports us to keep children playing and enjoying their football."
The Team Sport Award scheme encourages UK Power Networks staff to volunteer in the community and is aimed at promoting healthy living, teamwork and developing sporting opportunities. Such donations are becoming increasingly helpful to local sports clubs during the current cost of living crisis.
Hundreds of community and sports groups have benefited from grants since the Team Sport Award scheme was set up.
So far this year 70 teams from a variety of sports have been given awards that add up to a total of £17,500.
