Babergh's planning committee have this morning given the green light for new cycle paths to be laid between Chelmondiston and Holbrook as part of its approval for a landowner to build 22 new houses in Woolverstone and on the outskirts of Freston.
Councillors voted seven for and three against, in favour of Cllr David Busby's proposal to accept the officer's recommendation for approval, seconded by Cllr Susan Ayres, following the 90 minute hearing held in person at Endeavour House.

Innovative plans for cycle paths linking villages between Chelmondiston and Holbrook as part 22 new homes to be built on the peninsula, have been recommended for approval.
An application for erection of phased development of 22 dwellings, the creation of cycle path links to Holbrook and Chelmondiston, improvements to Berners Hall car park, provision of public open space and landscape enhancements. which will go before Babergh's planning committee tomorrow.

Fresh concerns have been raised over children's mental health demand after shock new data has revealed there were 25,000 referrals to a children's mental health hub in Suffolk in just three years – around 170 youngsters per week.
The Suffolk Emotional Wellbeing Hub (EWH) was formed in March 2018 to be the central point of contact for those aged up to 25-years-old in need of emotional or mental health support, which covers the peninsula area.

The quick and professional actions of fishermen a Shotley-based vessel probably saved the life of a person they rescued who fell overboard from his yacht off the Felixstowe coast.
The crew on the Yvonne Anne, which is often moored at Shotley marina, were working a couple of miles off Landguard point last weekend when they heard the Mayday call.
'Observe, don't disturb' is the message to visitors who go to the Suffolk coast this summer to enjoy the county's wildlife.
Suffolk Constabulary has signed up to the national initiative Operation Seabird, led by the RSPCA, to raise awareness of the importance of protecting and preserving our rich wildlife habitats and tackling disturbances to seals, sea birds and nesting birds.
