Three men arrested as part of a National Crime Agency investigation into the attempted smuggling of 69 Albanian migrants into the UK on a fishing vessel have today been charged.
Shotley residents were rudely awakened in November last year when a large scale operation, including helicopters , Border Force patrol vessels and immigration officers.

Nearly £350,000 of cash from housing developers for infrastructure improvements has been allocated to two projects in Babergh – including an expansion of Holbrook Academy.
Babergh District Council's cabinet agreed to allocate £237,750 towards a reconfiguration of Holbrook Academy, which will expand capacity by another 10 places up to 600 pupils, as well as £109,000 for improvements at Preston St Mary Village Hall.

An elderly lady escaped serious harm after losing control of her hire vehicle, which crashed into the home of a former postmaster in Shotley Gate.
The woman walked away relatively unscathed after losing control of the Dacia Sendaro at the top of Bristol Hill earlier today, before being taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
