Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SuLSAR) has taken ownership of a new water rescue vehicle, thanks to a donation from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.

Although Holbrook Coastguard carry out many searches, and rescue or recovery along the banks of the Shotley peninsula, SuLSAR plays a key role across the whole county, including the rivers Orwell and Stour.

Agreement has been given for Suffolk County Council to pursue a Government plan to overhaul bus services, which aims to significantly improve public transport provision, for places such as the Shotley peninsula.

Suffolk County Council's cabinet on Tuesday afternoon agreed to pursue the 'enhanced partnership' model of delivering bus services – effectively a set-up where the council and bus providers will jointly deliver improved services.

Babergh residents are being urged to show their support for brave service personnel by taking part in Armed Forces Day celebrations next week.

Suffolk marks the day annually as part of its ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, and this year's events will be hosted by Babergh District Council in partnership with the military, Hadleigh Town Council and the Royal British Legion.
