The familiar sight and sound of a Spitfire was among planes heard over the Shotley peninsula today.
Arguably our most distinctive warplane ever, joined a fly past over Merville Barracks in Colchester at lunchtime today as Prince Charles took the salute in his role as Colonel in Chief of the Parachute Regiment.

A senior officer investigating possible gangmaster involvement on the Shotley peninsula has urged residents to share information, especially in regards to suspected labour abuse among shellfish collectors on our foreshores.
Colin Norton, an Investigation Officer with the government's Gangmaster and Labour Abuse Authority, has issued a confidential hotline number and hiss email address to be used if a criminal activity is suspected.

Peninsula shooter Sam Nunn has been praised by an opponent for his 'integrity, honour and being a warrior against adversity' after sportingly insisting a competitor be placed above him the world clay pigeon shooting championships.
Sam's plea to the judges came after one of his rivals was initially disqualified on a technicality.

Local youth football team Chantry Grasshoppers U18 are looking for a few new players in any position to complete the squad for our last season in youth football.
The Grasshoppers have links with the Shotley Men's team with Marc Rowland the senior team's manager, being their assistant coach/manager and have played their home games at the Shotley Rose for the last two seasons.

St Elizabeth Hospice is calling on artists from the Shotley peninsula to submit their creative designs for the owl statues of the Big Hoot art trail being held next summer.
After much excitement and intrigue, in May St Elizabeth Hospice revealed the Big Hoot Ipswich 2022 will be the latest art trail to be held in partnership with creative producers, Wild in Art.

A peninsula pub is creating patriotic haircuts, coloured chests and beards as a show of support for England in the Euros final against Italy, but with an even more serious message in Mind.
Bakers Arms landlord Ross Grierson lead the way by having the St George's flag colours dyed into his hair, and more of the Harkstead pub's punters have followed him.
