Councillors have agreed Babergh District Council's budget for 2021/22 – delivering financial stability post-Covid while still delivering the council's commitment to climate change.

The budget agreed at last night's Full Council increases Babergh's share of council tax by 2.96%, the equivalent of less than 10p a week (£5 a year) for an average Band D property.

Boris Johnson outlined his roadmap today

Prominent commerce leaders and local councillors have cautiously welcomed prime minister Boris Johnson's roadmap to come out of the latest Covid-19 lockdown but have called for more tangible support to ensure Shotley peninsula businesses can survive.

Mr Johnson announced dates for reopening pubs, shops, restaurants and hairdressers as well as when sporting events can begin to take place.
