UPDATED: Who is opening when and where on the Shotley peninsula this week as lockdown eases

From Shotley to Brantham and all points in between on the Shotley peninsula, Nub News has all the information you need to know about the pubs, restaurants and businesses reopening this week as the next stage of the lockdown easing comes into effect.

Starting on Monday April 12 (full list of what is allowed and not allowed listed below) hairdressers and more, while pubs and restaurants will be allowed to open outside only.

Hairdressers Hers & Sirs are back cutting, curling and creating and you can book an appointment by calling Lorraine 780289 or going to Shipwreck, Shotley marina: Open; Wednesday to Sunday 11am - 5pm

Bristol Arms, Shotley Gate: Monday 12noon - 10pm just drinks, then all day for food and drink Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting April 16.

Rose Inn, Shotley: Monday: Bar only 5pm - 10pm.

Tuesday - Saturday: bar & food 12pm - 2pm; bar 5pm 10pm, food 5pm - 8pm

Sunday: Bar 12pm - 9pm; food 12pm -3pm

Bakers Arms, Harkstead: Starting Monday 11am until sunset, bar and food - until further notice.

Red Lion, Chelmondiston: To be confirmed

Butt & Oyster, Pin Mill: Open from Monday 10am serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food 10am-8pm Monday to Thursday, 10am-9pm Friday, 9am-9pm Saturday and 9am-8pm Sunday. We are encouraging people to download the free Deben Inns app to keep an eye on upcoming offers. All of our draught beers will be available.

Loch & Quay, Woolverstone marina: Monday to Saturday 9am to 10.30pm. Food served 9am to 9pm

Sunday: 10am to 10pm Food served 10am to 6pm

UPDATED The Boot, Freston: We are open every day from 12pm until 10pm (Last orders 9.45pm) We serve food 12pm until 3.30pm then 5.30pm until 8.30pm Monday to Friday and 12pm until 8.30pm Saturday then 12pm until 6pm Sunday.

We have our heated marquee & fire pit tipi of which we use as our restaurant areas. Booking highly recommended. We operate a food & drink order app and have strict covid policy in place.

Compasses, Holbrook: Closed

Swan, Holbrook: from Friday, April 23.

Mon & Tues - closed

Wed & Thurs - 4pm to 8pm

Fri, Sat & Sun - 12pm to 8pm

Bank Holidays - 12pm to 8pm

If your two family group is more than six people (inc children) please call 01473 554 030 so they can prepare a larger table for you

Wheatsheaf Beer House, Tattingstone: To be confirmed as work on an extension continues. (local ale delivery facility still open)

White Horse, Tattingstone: Monday - Wednesday; 12noon - 6pm, Thursday - Saturday 12-11pm and Sunday 12-5pm. Food will be served 12 - 3pm, Monday to Friday, 12 - 9pm Saturday and 12 - 4pm on Sunday. Pizzas will again be available from 5pm on Thursday night.

Kings Head, Stutton: Drink hours: Open from Monday and Tuesday this week. 12pm-3pm then 5-10pm. Food hours: 12.2pm and 5-8pm. The takeaway for this week is still available 5-8pm (Wed to Sat) All beer £3 a pint on April 12. Next week: Wed-Thur 12pm-3pm then 5-10pm. Food hours: 12.2pm and 5-8pm. Fri 12pm-3pm then 5-11pm. Food hours: 12-2pm and 5-8pm. Sat 12-11pm Food hours: 12-3pm and 5-8pm. Sun 12-6pm and12-3pm.

Gardeners Arms, Stutton: To be confirmed.

Bull at Brantham: Monday 11am-7pm for food and drink.

The Outlook, Wherstead: Food and drink 9am-4pm every day

Premier Inn, Wherstead: Closed.

Easing of COVID-19 restrictions in England: How the rules will change on 12 April

From Monday 12th April England will move to Step Two of the roadmap.

From 12 April:

  • non-essential retail will be able to reopen
  • personal care premises such as hairdressers and nail salons will be able to reopen
  • public buildings such as libraries and community centres will be able to reopen
  • outdoor hospitality venues will be able to reopen, with table service only
  • most outdoor attractions including zoos, theme parks, and drive-in performances (such as cinemas and concerts) will be able to reopen
  • some smaller outdoor events such as fetes, literary fairs, and fairgrounds will be able to take place
  • indoor leisure and sports facilities will be able to reopen for individual exercise, or exercise with your household or support bubble
  • all childcare and supervised activities will be allowed indoors (as well as outdoors) for all children. Parent and child groups can take place indoors (as well as outdoors) for up to 15 people (children under 5 will not be counted in this number)
  • weddings, civil partnership ceremonies, wakes and other commemorative events will be able to take place for up to 15 people (anyone working is not included in this limit), including in indoor venues that are permitted to open or where an exemption applies. Wedding receptions can also take place for up to 15 people, but must take place outdoors, not including private gardens
  • self-contained accommodation will be able to open for overnight stays in England with your household or support bubble
  • you should continue to minimise the amount that you travel where possible
  • care home residents will be able to nominate two named individuals for regular indoor visits (following a rapid lateral flow test)
