Tuesday's on this day...

350 years ago in 1748 was the birth, at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, of Vice Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, an admiral of the Royal Navy, notable as a partner with Lord Nelson in several of the British victories of the Napoleonic Wars. His name also lives on as the Royal Navy's electrical, mechanical and weapons training HMS Collingwood in Fareham, near Portsmouth.
