Did you know?

On this day in 2008 the Edwardian Grand Pier at Weston Super Mare was destroyed by fire. The blaze started in an area with deep fat friers, and fire alarm company was later found to have been negligent. It cost some £52million in total for the refurbishment but the pier was reopened in 2010.
