UPDATED: The A14 has reopened after police negotiators resolve situation.
*Motorists trying to get on or off the Shotley peninsula this lunch time suffered nightmare hold ups after a large section of the A14 was closed either side f the Orwell Bridge due to a 'police incident'.
The A14 between the Copdock Interchange – Junction 55 and the A14 at Nacton Interchange – Junction 58 was closed on the east and westbound carriageways from around 12.30pm today while police dealt with an incident.
All of the on-slips to the A14 were also closed between these junctions, meaning huge build up on most routes around the Ipswich area, including from the peninsula..
A police spokesperson added: "We would like to thank everyone for their patience during this time."
A number of motorists have already expressed their frustration at the delays with Amy Murreell contacting Nb News to say: "It is horrendous, It has taken be an hour already to crawl along Wherstead Road to get into town."
