People trying to get on and off the Shotley peninsula were ht with a double whammy as they tried to use the A14 this afternoon.

Firstly an ambulance lost a wheel as it went over the Orwell Bridge, causing a huge hold up.

The issue was compounded further down the A14 when a lorry tipped over at the Dock Spur roundabout near Felixstowe, adding to tail backs.

Although the ambulance mishap was dealt with reasonably quickly drivers were still left queueing back as far as the Copdock Interchange.

That led to issues In Ipswich, including Wherstead Road and Bourne Hill.

However, no sooner as traffic stared to move a collision on the A14 caused more delays, with some drivers stuck for more than an hour.
