Traffic is slowly easing over the Orwell Bride towards Copeck roundabout for driver coming ooff the Shotley peninsula after the westbound carriageway of the A14 at Claydon has reopened.

Police were called at 8.30am this morning, Monday 8 November, to reports of an obstruction in the road after a piece of the road surface was found to have broken away, leaving a large hole in the carriageway.

Three vehicles were found to have sustained damage as a result of this.

The westbound carriageway was closed between Junction 53 at Whitehouse in Ipswich and Junction 52 at Claydon.

National Highways have now attended and carried out repairs, with the road reopening around 11.40am.
