An Ipswich Town supporting Shotley woman was left stunned after a surprise proposal at Portman Road.

Tractor Boys' mascot Bluey got down on one knee to take the hand of Emma Squirrell and made his offer on the concourse after the game.

However, Emma declined and Bluey was left as disappointed as the Blues were after a late goal was disallowed and their League One clash with Portsmouth ended in a 0-0 draw.

"I was taken completely by surprise," said Emma. "It was a sweet thing for Bluey to do but I don't know anything about him and he was obviously just horsing around."

The 23-year-old, who is single, admitted she had her eyes on another man in an Ed Sheeran sponsored blue shirt and revealed she had a crush on one of the Ipswich Town players, but refused to reveal his name.

Emma, who works for the David Lloyd health club in Ipswich, usually goes to games, home and away, with her mum Linda and brother Anthony.
