Did you know?

On this day in 1995 Ronald 'Carl' Giles OBE, died in Suffolk. Often referred to simply as Giles, he was a cartoonist best known for his work for the Daily Express. His cartoon style was a single topical highly detailed panel, usually with a great deal more going on than the single joke. A statute of 'Grandma' one of his favourite characters stands in Ipswich town centre.

Joke of the day:

Farmer Giles is talking to Farmer Palmer. He says "You know, my bull's not doing no good these days..."

"...he just can't keep up with the cows any more."

"Ah," says Palmer, "just give vet a call. I had same problem with my bull, and vet come round and give me a bottle of stuff for him. I give him one spoonful and he went off and did six cows one after the other, just like when he were a youngster."

"Sounds good," says Giles. "What medicine were it, then?"

"I don't rightly know," says Palmer. "...Tasted a mite like liquorice, though".
