Three family members jailed after attack on man in Shotley house

A tragic personal feud led to three men smashing into a house in Kingsland and attack a man.

Aaron Squirrell, along with his two uncles Christopher and Shaun Squirrell were all jailed for 30 months at Ipswich Crown Court last week.

The court heard how the trio trapped one of the four occupants and repeatedly punched and kicked him.

The Squirrels, Aaron , 26 of Leighton Road, Ipswich. Christopher, of Meeting Lane, Woodbridge and Shaun 44, f Kingsland, Shotley all admitted the attack, which prosecuting barrister Simon Gladwell said stemmed from a personal dispute and the four occupants were known by the defendants..

Recorder Jeremy Benson said the circumstances surrounding the case were tragic, which involved the loss of a family member, as he jailed the trio.

He told the court: "They [the Squirrells] stood on the victim's neck, they punched and kicked him, and a number of the blows were directed toward the head.

"He was struggling to breathe, and he thought he was going to die.

"The police were called, and, fortunately, the defendants desisted and ran off.

"During these events, they caused some damage to the house, and, also, [the homeowners] were dealt with roughly.

"It is very fortunate that the injuries to the victim were not as serious as they could have been."
