Elated Tattingstone boss James Parker has revealed the reason how and why his side clinched a last gasp promotion to the Senior Division.
Two second half goals against Cockfield, who were the league leaders going into the last day of the Macron .Division One were not just enough for victory and three points, but proved enough to pip Somersham United to second spot and promotion to the Premier.
It was an anxious five minute wait in the centre circle for all involved with Tattingstone as they waited for the results to come through, followed by wild celebrations.
Stowupland Falcons winning 5-1 at home over Woolverstone United secured them the title, but Somersham fell one short of going up by only beating Capel Plough 4-1 and Tatt were up.
It was tight but Parker was in no doubt about how Tatt had succeeded a second promotion in his five year reign.
"It is our camaraderie," he said: "Many of us have been friends from school.
"A lot of these started with me five years ao and we all had one objective. Now that friendship and that camaraderie has made it happen.
"I said five and a half years ago I will get these lads into the Senior Division and so many people laughed - but here we are."
United topped the table for much of the season until hitting a rough patch with a couple of defeats and dropped to fourth, but hit back in style to get back in contention.
Parker added: "Im so proud of the boys
'It has been an incredible season from the boys who have lost just twice all season.
"Really we should have won the league this year, in another year we would have done but it has been tight, the tightest division I have seen in all my time playing and managing."
Cockfield could not handle Tattingstone's tempo and relentless pressure and were fortunate not to be at least two down by the break after twice clearing off the line and getting bit of help from the linesman who disallowed a goal for offside.
Mind you, the visitors were dangerous on the counter and hit a post and the crossbar either side of the break, while the Tatt keeper made a couple of good saves.
Cockfield's frustration got the better of them as they lost their discipline, then their centre half who was red carded for a crude tackle 10 minutes from time by referee Thomas Ling, who handled the game superbly.
"It should have been more," said Parker. "We could have been three or four up and should not have had to sit for so long to score one. We have done it and that's all that matters."
The club, which has to play at Ipswich Exile's Bourne Vale ground, are hoping they can convince Tattingstone councillors and playing field committee to bring their Green Lane ground up to the required standard so they can play back in the village.
