A huge hike in the cost of food, oil and energy has forced takeaways to increase the price its food to customers.
Mohammed Ali, owner of the Lasan takeaway in Kingsland, Shotley Gate, has expressed his dismay at having to up his prices during this cost of living crisis.
The Lasan, which serves as traditional chippy as well as an Indian takeaway, has added £1 to the cost of its chicken dishes and £1.50 to lamb dishes, while its fish and chip menu has also increased slightly.
Ali said: "We did not want to do this but things like our vegetable and palm oil has more than doubled. It is the same with chicken and lamb , they have gone up by 100% too.
"Added to many other prices going up we have had to follow or we would go out of business."
Ali is hoping as costs settle he will be able to return to the previous prices and is reluctant to go to the large expense of changing all his menus so is asking customers to check prices when ordering if they are not sure.
Call 01473 787033 or 788987 or go to the Lasan website for more menu details
