Staff shortages at Suffolk's pub of the year has meant it will not be open over the usually busy new year period.

The Freston Boot will not open tomorrow and is expecting too stay closed until January 18 due to covid cases, and staff being forced to isolate.

Owner Damon Jeffrey said in a statement: "We regretfully have had to make the difficult decision to close our doors from tomorrow the 28th December (due to staff shortages) so if you have a booking with us between this date and the 18th of January please note we will no longer be able to have you visit us.

"We hope you've all enjoyed your Christmas period and a Happy New Year

from us all." The Freston Boot , which was open to customers today, was named Suffolk Pub of the Year at the National Pub and Bar Awards for 2021, after being recognised for its quality food and outstanding service.
