Suffolk fire investigators looking into Shotley blaze

Suffolk fire investigators looking into a blaze at a Shotley house, which caused significant damage to the roof.

The family escaped unhurt after a fire broke out on the first floor and spread into the roof area of their end-terrace home opposite St Mary's Church in Shotley, on Sunday lunchtime.

Firefighters from Holbrook tackled the blaze and were able to prevent the flames spreading to the downstairs areas.

Front and back of the house's was left blackened and a large hole can been seen, with slight damage noticeable to a neighbouring roof.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service an investigation will be carried out to discover the cause of the fire.

The crews made the area safe and were stood down by 15.30 and left the scene by 16.00.
