Shotley rope swing tree immortalised

There is probably not a youngster in Shotley that did not have ago on the rope swing on the Shotley foreshore.
Crudely made up with a thin, secure rope, the swing was popular with children, and young at heart at adults, for generations, and not just those from this village.
But did you know the old oak also spoke to people?

Well it does according writer Solomon Holmes, who lived on the peninsula with his family before moving to Ipswich and has been studying creative English at the University of Suffolk.
The touching and very personal story is immortalised in print, and now a recording, read by Solomon.
