Shotley peninsula teen in month long Bobby Moore Keepy Uppy challenge for bowel cancer
A Shotley teenager is aiming to complete as many keepy uppies as he can every day throughout February as part of a national fundraiser.
Isaak Swift, 13, is taking part in the Cancer Research's Bobby Moore Bowel carer fundraiser.
Goalkeeper Isaac, who played at Holbrook Hornets and was then a volunteer referee at Shotley Rangers, is looking to raise a minimum of £150, and is already well on his way.
He now plays for Chantry Grasshoppers and will uses game days and training sessions to complete the challenge.
The Chantry Academy schoolboy is also hoping to show off his keepy uppy skills on the James Smith's Stadium, home of his beloved Huddersfield Town, when he watches them play Hull City during half-term.
Isaak was inspired to tackle the challenge after the family lost a friend to bowel cancer a few years ago at the age of 40 despite fighting so hard.
MumEmma added: "Isaak's dad Alan's auntie has survived stage 4 bowel cancer for about 10 years now thankfully but my auntie died of bowel cancer when I was pregnant with Isaak.
"It has touched our lives and so when he saw the advert, Isaak said he wanted to raise money."
World Cup winner and England captain Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died.
Shortly after his death in 1993, Bobby's widow Stephanie Moore OBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund to raise money for pioneering bowel cancer research. Since the fund was set up, bowel cancer mortality rates have fallen by over 30%.
However, with 46 people losing their life to the disease every day in the UK, there is still have a long way to go.
