Shotley peninsula named in The Times survey as one of the best places to live in the country

It will come as no surprise to all of us that love living here but the stunning Shotley peninsula has today been named among the top eight best places to live in the East of England.
While Woodbridge topped the list, the judges hailed the villages on the peninsula for their community, countryside beauty and convenience, as The Times revealed its top 101 of best places to live in the country.
Saffron Walden, Epping, Dedham Vale, Norwich, Wells Next to the Sea and Ely, were also named as the east's top eight.
The Times judges described the Shotley peninsula as:
"A slice of prime Suffolk countryside where you can enjoy laid-back village life and Swallows and Amazons-style fun in the water". Their favourite things include the local produce, the free little pantries dotted everywhere and Stutton's community shop. Enormous skies and views from estuary and riverside pubs and the rolling countryside were mentioned. Pin Mill was described as the prettiest village, but Stutton, Tattingstone, Holbrook, and Shotley, which has three pubs and a village post office and shop, are equally admired. Helen Davies, The Times and Sunday Times property editor, said: "Our focus for this year has been community, countryside and convenience. It hasn't been a year for big cities or small villages. Instead it is small towns that have shone: big enough to have everything you need within walking distance and small enough for everyone to feel connected."
