Applicants from the Shotley peninsula are being invited to become a communications and press officer with Ipswich Borough Council (IBC).
There are currently two vacancies on a salary of £26,000 - £33,000 per annum, including benefits, on a permanent basis working mainly from home and in their Ipswich.
IBC is seeking to create a team that can work to the highest standard and understand the importance of meaningful engagement with residents and employees.
This is a hugely rewarding area of work and they are looking for individuals that can work with press partners to promote local events, shows, festivals and much more, whilst also developing highly engaging communications for our residents and staff.
These roles will support their corporate management team and councillors and play a key role in the production of high-quality and strategic internal and external communications.
To be shortlisted for an interview you must be able to:
- Adapt writing styles to meet different audience needs
- Work creatively across internal and external communications and create content and messaging suitable for multiple communications channels
- Develop and manage the council's digital and paper-based external communications including, but not limited to, The Angle, Ipswich Direct, the corporate website and social channels.
- Manage the council's digital and paper-based internal communications including but not limited to, the Intranet and Staff News
- Develop and manage the council's image and media library
- Design and analyse internal and external surveys and other digital consultations
- Liaise with national, regional and local press and media on both a proactive and reactive basis, liaising with other services, and designing and delivering media campaigns as necessary
- Research on good practices concerning internal and external communications in local government and beyond and embed such good practices in the council's approach.
- Liaise with other parts of the council as necessary to ensure that the council's website is up to date and easy to use
- Manage communications related projects to a high standard, delivering on budget and on time.
- Produce written reports/correspondence, prepare statistics, financial/budgetary information and maintain accurate records as required.
- Demonstrate 2-3 years' experience is a similar role
