Motorist looking to get on and off the Shotley peninsula this after face severe delays after a three-vehicle collision.

Police were called to the incident a little at 2pm today, with reports of a collision on the A14 westbound at Wherstead involving a van and two cars.

Significant damage to the central reservation, was confirmed which led to a temporary closure on the westbound stretch, leading to half hour delays.

National Highways contractors were en-route to assess the damage but debris has also spread across to the eastbound carriageway, which could add to further delays as it is cleared.

A spokesman said there was a 30 minute delay westbound with five miles of traffic.
