Mystery surrounded the huge Wrexham sign which appeared on a slag heap, but did you know Shotley once boasted its own Hollywood style sign which could be seen across two counties and thousands of foreign visitors, as our picture, taken by former parish chairman Bernard Nichols in 1979, shows.
