A man was found safe and well near the Strand after police closed the Orwell Bridge following calls from worried motorists.

The A14 was closed for nearly an hour in the early hours on Monday morning following the incident which ended without anyone being injured.

A police spokesman today said: "We were called to concerns for safety of a man at around 12.15am.

"The man engaged with officers and was located unharmed a short time later near to Suffolk Food Hall. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment."
