Police are again attending an incident on the Orwell Bridge, which has caused huge delays.

Traffic was stopped at around 4pm this afternoon and held between the junctions coming off at Wherstead and Ransomes, causing tailbacks in both directions.

Motorists looking for other routes has led to huge congestion in Ipswich town centre, further exacerbated by the build up people king to Ipswich Town's game at Portman Road tonight.

*The bridge was reopened just after 6pm this evening, although some delays persist.

The Orwell Bridge was also closed on Monday last week following an incident which resulted in no injures and no arrests.
