Police have confirmed that a man has died following a collision on the A137 at Bourne Hill in Wherstead last night.

Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the manner of driving of the vehicles involved shortly before the incident.

Emergency services were called at approximately 10.30pm yesterday, Monday 3 May, to reports of a collision involving a black Nissan Qashqai and a grey Ford S-Max, on the hill next to the ski slope.

The fire service and ambulance service also attended but despite the efforts by paramedics, the driver of the Nissan Qashqai – a man aged in his 30s – was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later at the scene.

Three other people involved – the passenger of the Nissan Qashqai and the driver and passenger of the Ford S-Max – all sustained minor injuries.

Road closures were put in place on the A137 and the A14 while an investigation was carried out. The closures were lifted at approximately 5.25am this morning, Tuesday 4 May.

Any witnesses, or anyone driving along the road immediately prior to the collision with a dash-cam, are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference CAD reference 395 of 3 May 2021.
