Ed Sheeran has pumped in thousands of pounds into Pin Mill after filming music video at the beauty spot, it can be revealed.

While the exact figure has not been revealed, the production company responsible for filming Ed Sheeran completely took over the area, which involved the complete closure of the Babergh car park, both public and the permit holder section.

Pin Mill car park was closed

The iconic Butt & Oyster was closed until 3pm, while the film crew also hired out Pin Mill Sailing Cub, while Chelmondiston Parish Council are understood to have been paid for the use of the Hard area.

While hard cash will be welcome, the soft benefits of giving the hamlet an even higher world profile is seen as a massive plus for the peninsula.

A spokesperson for Babergh District Council said: "Film tourism is hugely important; not only bringing economic benefit to the region during filming but also showcasing places and landscapes that attract many visitors every year.

"Last year, the villages of Kersey and Lavenham were transported into the 1950's for the successful Britbox series 'The Magpie Murders' based on the Anthony Horowitz novel.

"We were delighted to support Ed Sheeran and his production team, and we look forward to seeing the beautiful scenery around Pin Mill when the music video is released.

"Babergh District Council received compensation for the lost income incurred by the closure of the car park.

"This will be used to compensate permit holders with any remaining funds going to the general parking income budget."
