Peninsula pub's patriotic haircuts, chest and beards to back England but with serious message in Mind

A peninsula pub is creating patriotic haircuts, coloured chests and beards as a show of support for England in the Euros final against Italy, but with an even more serious message in Mind.

Bakers Arms landlord Ross Grierson lead the way by having the St George's flag colours dyed into his hair, and more of the Harkstead pub's punters have followed him.

As our pictures show, others have bared their chests, exposed their beards and anything else for the cause.

While all the participants are keen to show their backing for Gareth Southgate's team, they are also hoping to raise at least £1,000 for the Suffolk Mind charity inspired by, and in memory of, a regular customer who found the various lockdowns unbearable and is no longer with us.

The Bakers Arms' message following the semi-final win over Denmark and ahead of tomorrow's game against Italy was simply: "Here at the Bakers Arms, we love football as much as our dedicated customers, so to prove it, we are "asking" our faithful gang to join us in dying their hair St George's flag style. Celebrating the nation's Euro20 victory, whilst raising money for a cause close to our hearts.

"Thanks for taking the time to visit out JustGiving page, please donate, share and spread the word!"

Nub News editor, and district councillor, Derek Davis has also vowed to support the cause by agreeing to have his hair coloured by Lybi if people donate £250 directly to see him dyed and go to official meetings for a week with the new look.

All you have to do to ensure Mr Davis has his hair dyed is to donate to the Just Giving page and mention Derek Davis in the comment section before 12noon, on Sunday July 11, feel free to donate anyway without including Mr Davis before or after.
