A mostly dry and bright start to the week with plenty of winter sunny spells and just a few areas of cloud with easing winds through the day. Heavy rain clear to the north-east to leave brief bright spells before frequent, heavy and blustery showers move in from the south-west. Winds easing. Wednesday is expected to be dull and damp with lingering areas of low cloud. Spells of rain will ease through the day. Variable cloud and largely dry into Thursday, with generally lighter winds than overnight. Nice and sunny, although chilly. More cold winds and rain for the weekend.
