Shotley's Premier Stores is offering a buy now, pay later, delivery service as from today.
The shop and Post Office in Kingsland, Shotley, has been working extremely hard to keep up with demand and service the needs of customers, but owner Manish Patel is aware some people may still be struggling to get food and other essential supplies.
He is also aware of concerns over methods of payment and social distancing when making deliveries, so he has offered a new service to the most vulnerable customers and those self-isolating.
"This is not a time for pounds and pence," said Mr Patel. "It is about making sure our community is kept safe and well.
"People can order their food, we will sort out delivery and when this is all over, people can settle up.
"We will keep receipts and a record but the main thing is that those people who are the most in need of a delivery get what they need now."
Shop staff, which were recently highlighted as peninsula key workers, will do deliveries, and the store works very closely with the Shotley & Erwarton Good Neighbours Scheme. (07799873881)
Like many shops, Shotley Premier Store is operating under new opening times from 08.00 - 19.00, but can close within these times to take in deliveries. Call 787281.
