Chelmondiston' pub the Red Lion has retained is place in the new Michelin Guide for 2021.

Although not star rated the gastro pub in the village's main road is included in the Michelin Plate' good cooking section.

The Red Lion is described in the guide as a 'simple restaurant' with prices between £22-£32 and the pub offers outside dining and accommodation.

The Michelin Guide's reviewer said: "An experienced couple run this red-brick pub: she's a charming host, while he prepares reassuringly traditional dishes that are carefully cooked and full of flavour. The pleasantly modernised interior features a nice collection of art and vintage posters; stylish bedrooms are located in a barn."

Mandy Bower and her partner Douglas Wright took over the Red Lion, previously called the Venture, in 2014 and were first listed in the Michelin Guide a year later.

The couple also run the Bib Gourmand-winning George and Dragon in Kelvedon

Like all pubs and restaurants the Red Lion is currently closed.
