Customers going into the Compasses in Holbrook have been left in no doubt what they need to do before entering the pub.

A simple, humorous and effective message reminding people they have to wear their mask before sitting at a table has been put on a chalk board next to the main entrance.

The Compasses' cheeky instruction put on the board by manager Clare Ling says: "Simply put... If you are not on your arse then wear your mask...

"No offence intended. However, it really is that simple..."

Clare told Nub News: "It has worked and the vast majority of people have taken it in the way it was intended.

"One lady right at the beginning said it was a bit offensive, but she had her mask and laughed when I said she'd pushers on."

Clare came up with the poetic dit after getting fed up with reminding customers what they were meant to do and put that down to the confusing messages being put out by the Government.

Although the Punch-owned Compasses is open the tenants have noticed a huge fall in usage and like many pubs fear for the future.

Meanwhile, customers are welcome for food and drink and have been eft in no doubt what they need to do when inside and not sitting.
