The Shotley peninsula has a new Green Party councillor, while all three Independents held their seats in the Babergh elections.

Daniel Potter replaced Jane Gould, who stood down, to become the Orwell Ward member, as the Greens enjoyed a bumper set of results, both in Babergh and neighbouring Mid-Suffolk.

Cllr Potter, joins nine other Greens at Babergh, while the Independents have a total of nine in their group.

In Babergh the Conservatives are down to seven, The Lib Dems up two to five, with one Labour member.

Meanwhile, Mary McLaren won the Stour ward again, this time as an Independent and by large margin.

A coalition administration is likely to be set up following negotiations between the parties over the next couple of weeks.
