The Wonder Of You for peninsula care home residents on Elvis Presley Day

By Derek Davis 8th Jan 2021

Residents at a peninsula care home marked what would have been Elvis Presley's 85th birthday with a special day of the King's music, films and a life size cardboard cut-out.

This was not Heartbreak Hotel, but Spring Lodge at Woolverstone, where the residents remember Elvis in his prime and will not be All Shook Up at hearing his hits being played all day long and Can't Help Falling in Love with him all over again.

There were no Suspicious Minds as Doreen Webber (pictured) blew Elvis a kiss even though there was No Return To Sender as the Hound Dog knew many of the Spring Lodge residents Cant Help Falling in Love with him.

Others wondered if he was Lonesome Tonight and said he was Always On My Mind, and wanted him to Love Me Tender, while wearing his Blue Suede Shoes.

In all Elvis had 18 number one hits, and 38 top ten songs in his amazing career where he also starred in 31 films

Elvis Presley Day was organised by Spring Lodge's events co-ordinator Aimee Davey who noticed there was a Little Less Conversation as Kid Creole was played on television and knew It Was Now Or Never to play the guest singers featured on a special Facebook page.

Elvis was born on 8 January, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, and died on 16 August 1977, at his home in Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee, sparking widespread grief among his worldwide army of fans.
