Concerns over the heavy use at Harkstead beach has prompted the parish council to issue a plea to visitors.

Councillors have issued a list of requests for users to ensure the protected area remains special.

A spokesperson for Harkstead parish council said: "The foreshore at Harkstead is now showing signs of the heavy use it has come under over the last few years.

"At the same time, it is a protected area for its wildlife, habitats and landscape.

"So that we can keep this area special the Parish Council is asking anyone who visits to please:

Take litter home
Not camp overnight
Keep dogs under control and in sight
Bag & bin dog poo
Not light fires Not damage trees & other vegetation
Keep to marked paths
Be considerate to others

Visitors are also asked to note that there are no facilities on or near the foreshore, especially now the Bakers Arms has closed.
