Shotley parish councillors will this evening meet to discuss rescinding a decision to support the change of conditions application at the former HMS Ganges site.

The proposed U-turn comes after councillors clashed at last month's full parish council meeting over the application made by developers at Barrelman's Point regarding phase two of the development agreed in 2015.

The parish council had already agreed at a September meeting to support the S73 application, to be decided by Babergh District Council planners.

However, objections, including concerns about the use of the spine road, cycle and pedestrian paths prompted the council to hold an extraordinary meeting to new wording for their recommendation to Babergh, with public comments closing on Monday, 13 November.

A number of comments have been made by residents on Bristol Hill, regarding the Spine Road, (which will still be built through the whole estate) not connecting with the private road at the Shotley marina, something outside the developers' control.

The lack of any affordable houses on the estate for the increase from 285 homes to 303. The current legal agreement provides a deferred, financial provision made to babergh, but not necessarily spent in the Ganges ward.

Members of the public will be able to watch the meeting, at the village hall, with the meeting starting at 7.15pm.
