Motorists have been warned of delays getting on and off the Shotley peninsula as the Orwell Bridge remains shut due to high winds from Storm Ciarán.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted down the A137 ski slope and through Ipswich town centre with delays expected

Although the peninsula escaped the worst of the second storm to hit Suffolk in recent weeks, winds gusted up to 60mph over the bridge.

Trees have come down on the B1456 along the 40mph stretch between Shotley and Chelmondiston, just before the recycling area.

There's another tree down in Woolverstone heading towards Chelmondiston. It is passable butcher is needed as you will need to go onto the opposite side of the road to pass it.

Drivers should also be aware the Strand is likely to flood again today between 2pm - 3pm with a high tide of 4.19m expected at 2.30pm, following yesterday's lunch time high of 4.5m, which caught out a number of vehicle owners.
