Seven new Shotley parish councillors have been elected uncontested - and all are from the 'wet end' of the village.
Only two councillors, Richard Wrinch and Tony Ingram, submitted their nomination papers in time and were were elected in the May 4 parish, town and district council elections, which meant the council would not be quorate.
A new election was called by Babergh chief executive and returning officer Arthur Charvonia, with a nomination deadline of May 18, and the election due to be held on June 15.
However, only six new candidates stood for election meaning a total of eight of the nine seats have been filled, leaving one vacancy and no need for an election.
Three of the uncontested Shotley parish councillors live in Lower Harlings, Shotley Gate - husband and wife Tony and Lucy Ingrams and Peta Hillier.
Another three, Barrie Powell, Chis Smith and Robbie Green, all live on Bristol Hill - also in Shotley Gate, meanwhile John Richardson lives around the corner in Queen Victoria Drive.
Shotley Gate is known as the 'wet end' of the village due to its proximity to the river Stour and the foreshore.
Only chairman Richard Wrinch lives outside Shotley Gate, with his home at the bottom of Wades Lane, (close to the river Orwell) which is within the parish boundary.
