With kiss me quick hats, iced lollies, deckchairs, a flamingo rubber ring and a mug of tea, it could have been any beach in the world. But this was Woolverstone and the residents, and staff, were loving an afternoon in a typical English summer, overcast and windy but at least the rain held off.
As the guests at Spring Lodge could not get out and about due to current restrictions, the beach was brought to them and the smiles of satisfaction told their own story, even with Storm Ellie blowing all around.
With Kristina Bee belting out some old favourites, including Patsy Cline's Crazy and Dawn's Tie a Yellow Ribbon, and being waited on and and foot by the attentive staff and activity co-ordinators, the residents tapped their feet, supped away and with one lucky gentleman getting a dance with activities co-ordinator Aimee Davey, it was another fun afternoon on the peninsula.
"It is amazing what a bit of live music and a bit of fun can do," Aimee said before going off to top up the paddling pool and have a chat with the 'beachgoers'. "One of the best aspects of our job is putting a smile on faces and keeping people entertained," she added.
Spring Lodge, which is part of the Kingsley Healthcare, and the summer beach party was part of the group's Dignity Day.
The highly regarded specialist home in Woolverstone regularly put on events for residents, including Zoom fitness classes and visiting entertainers.
