Monday's Peninsula Breakfast Briefing

Did you know?

On this day in 1993, customs officials at Felixstowe seized £70m of Colombian cocaine which proved to be the first to be linked to the Mafia. The discovery of more than a quarter of a tonne of cocaine came after British Customs and Excise officials were tipped off by Italian anti-Mafia investigators. The international operation also involved the help of Colombian police as the haul is believed to have originated from one of the world's largest drug cartels - the Medellin in Colombia.

Fast forward 27 years and £120m worth of drugs were discovered at the same Suffolk port following an operation by the National Crime Agency in September.
